To turn your presentation into a screensaver on Windows, you’ll start by saving it as an image file and then move onto setting it as the screensaver.
Save the slideshow
- With your slideshow open in PowerPoint, open the File tab.
- Select Save As or Save a Copy depending on your version.
- Choose a location on your computer.
- Enter the File name and pick the format in the Save as type box directly beneath. Use an image format such as JPG, PNG, or BMP. Each of these formats work just fine, but you may have a preference due to your screen resolution or file size.
- Select Save.
- In the pop-up window, pick All Slides for an image of each slide or Just This One for a single slide image.
- You’ll see a confirmation that the folder has been saved along with the location you picked. Click OK.

Set the screensaver
- Access the screensaver settings depending on your version of Windows.
On Windows 10, for example, you can type “screen saver” into the task bar Search and select Change screen saver from the results.
- In the pop-up window, open the drop-down menu below Screen Saver and pick Photos.
- Click Settings on the right.
- Use the Browse button to locate and select the saved PowerPoint folder from above.
- Optionally, choose the Slide show speed and Shuffle the pictures if you like.
- Click Save.
- When you return to the Screen Saver Settings window, you can see a Preview of the screensaver using that button to the right.
- You can also adjust the Wait time in minutes to start your screensaver as well as check the box to display the login screen upon resume.
- Click Apply to save a use the screensaver and then OK to close the Screen Saver Settings.

Just like on Windows, you’ll save your PowerPoint as an image file and then set it as the screensaver on Mac.
Save the slideshow
- With your slideshow open in PowerPoint, select File > Export in the menu bar.
- Pick On My Mac to save the file locally and then choose the location in the pop-up window. Make note of the location you select so you can easily find it.
- Enter the Export As name in the top section and pick the File Format in the bottom section. Again, you can choose JPEG, PNG, or BMP per your preference.
- Mark Save Every Slide for an image of each slide or Save Current Slide Only for a single slide image.
- Adjust the Width and Height for the images. When you enter one or the other, the remaining dimension should automatically update to retain the aspect ratio so that the images appear correctly and not distorted.
- Click Export.
- You’ll see a confirmation that the folder has been saved along with the location you picked. Click OK.

Set the screensaver
- Access the screensaver settings on Mac with one of the following:some text
- Select the Apple icon in the menu bar, choose System Settings, and pick Screen Saver.
- Open the System Settings icon in your Dock and pick Screen Saver.
- Right-click the System Settings icon in your Dock and pick Screen Saver.
- Scroll to the Other section on the right side and pick Photos.
- Click Options next to Photos at the top.
