Prepare the PowerPoint recording screen
With your slideshow in tip-top shape, it’s time to create the recording. Because PowerPoint offers several recording features, it’s important to take a few minutes to prepare your screen for those you want to use.
Select a slide and click the Record button on the top right of the PowerPoint window or go to the Record tab and choose From Beginning or From Current Slide.
You’ll see the recording screen appear with a toolbar at the top, a few menus at the bottom, and your current slide in the center. This is where you want to set up your preferred features.
Microphone and Camera: You’ll see buttons with the Microphone and Camera icons in the top toolbar. Select one to turn it off or on. To change the input for either, click the Show more options icon (three dots).
Camera mode: If you enable the camera, you can slightly adjust your background. Open the Select the camera mode menu (person in a square) at the bottom and choose Show Background or Blur Background.
Camera formatting: You can change the position or size of the camera as it appears on the slide. Select Edit to return to the slideshow in edit mode, go to the Insert tab, and pick Cameo. Make your changes to the camera on the slide and click Record to return to the recording screen.
View: You can use the Teleprompter which scrolls through your notes, Presenter View which displays the slideshow on one screen and a controller view on the other, or Slide View which displays the slideshow in full view. Open the Views menu at the bottom to pick one of these.
Teleprompter scroll speed: To change the scrolling speed if you use Teleprompter view, click the Teleprompter button in the top toolbar. Use the slider in the pop-up bar to adjust the speed and the X to close it when you finish.
