Method 1: Shift and right-click to save the image
A quick way to download an image from Slides is to use a keyboard shortcut with your mouse or trackpad. This method works the same on both Windows and Mac.
- Select the slide with the picture.
- Hold Shift as you right-click the image.
- Pick Save Image As.
- Choose a location, name the image, and click Save.
Then, access the picture by opening the folder where you saved it.

Method 2: Copy and paste the image from Slides
This next method is ideal if you simply want to use the picture in another application such as a notes app, email, or document. You can copy the image from the slide and paste it where needed.
Select the slide with the picture and do one of the following:
- Right-click the image and choose Copy.
- Go to Edit > Copy in the menu.
- Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + C on Windows or Command + C on Mac.
Navigate to application you want to use, place your cursor where you want the image, and do one of the following:
- Right-click and pick Paste.
- Go to Edit > Paste in the menu. Note that depending on the application you use, you may see a different Edit option in the menu or ribbon.
- Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + V on Windows or Command + V on Mac.
You then have the downloaded image from Google Slides in your application.
Method 3: Open in Keep to right-click and save
You don’t have to be a Google Keep user to take advantage of this next method. By instructing Slides to save the image to Keep, you can then quickly download the picture to your device.
- Select the slide and right-click the image.
- Choose Save to Keep.
- When the sidebar opens, you’ll see the picture. Right-click it and select Save Image As.
Tip: If you do want the picture in a Keep note, click the three dots on the top of the image and pick Open in Keep.
- Choose a location, name the image, and click Save.
Then, open the folder where you saved the picture to access it.
Method 4: Download the image slide
One more way to download an image from Google Slides is to export the slide as an image file. This method takes a bit more time but is an option worth considering. The catch is that you may need to expand the image to fit the entire slide (if possible) and also remove any other elements on the slide.
- Select the image on the slide and resize it. You’ll want to cover as much of the slide with the picture as you can without distorting the image. One way to do this is to set the image as the slide background; however, this only works well if the image fits the slide exactly.
Alternatively, do one of the following:
- Drag a corner of the image to resize it while maintaining the aspect ratio.
- Select Format Options in the top toolbar, expand the Size & Rotation section, and adjust the Size settings. You may also want to check the box for Lock aspect ratio to avoid skewing the image.
- Once the picture covers the slide, go to File > Download and choose one of the image formats. You can pick JPEG, PNG, or Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) for the current slide.
- Access your web browser’s Downloads or the default Downloads folder on your device to open the image.
